Online food delivery giant has found itself in the midst of a controversy after one of its customer support executives asked a customer from Tamil Nadu "to learn Hindi as it's the national language". As #RejectZomato trended online, the company sacked and soon rehired the employee in question, with founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal clarifying that "this isn't something she should've been fired for" and that ""level of tolerance and chill" in the country needs to be much higher. Another major brand Fabindia recently got embroiled in a controversy over a commercial for its latest clothing collection. The company pulled back the ad as #BoycottFabindia trended online, with many claiming that it hurt their religious sentiments. Does online sledging hit the bottomline? How do companies deal with social media trolling? Watch the discussion on the India Development Debate with Anuja Chauhan, Author, Amit Tuli, Founder, Studio Unees and Nisha Singhania, Co-Founder, Infectious Advertising.
