EP1540 - Are the temples really controlled by the government in India? | India Upfront 08 SEPTEMBER 2021 09:42 IST | TIMES NOW TV | 07 MIN 30 SEC
On India Upfront, with Rahul Shivshankar, we discuss about faith being ruled by the state rather than the Shastras. India ensures that its inhabitants have the fundamental right to freedom. In our constitution, there is an unchangeable and unnegotiable ideal. This fundamental structure is beyond the capacity of the state to reform. The state, in particular, allows us to pick our own religion. However, while the religion is free, the temples are not. The state is in charge of Hindu temples. It's been decades since the legacies were stripped of their temples. It's past time to free the temples from the government's grasp. 'If you truly believe that religion should stay out of state, then the state must stay out of religion', said A Ranganathan, Author on India Upfront. Watch the entire debate to know more.
